RESTAURANTS WITH STARS

The Michelin Guide continues to acknowledge and support the gastronomy of Asturias and of Gijon. In its 2010 edition, it has distinguished the restaurateur, Nacho Manzano, with two stars for the first time. The Manzano family manages two restaurants in the region, Casa Marcial, distinguished with two stars, and the La Salgar Restaurant. The latter is a member of the Gijon Convention Bureau and is a novel restaurant with singular traits, just a short distance from the Conference Centre and the Trade Fair of Gijon. The city also has another 2 of the 5 restaurants that have one Michelin star in Asturias: Casa Gerardo, which has had it since 1987, and La Solana; apart from 64 establishments distinguished by the SICTED (Integral Tourist System Quality Destination). + info

GIJON, EUROPEAN MARINE CAPITAL IN 2010

The conference is one of the official events of the Spanish Presidency of the EU. Innovation, one of the priorities of the Spanish Presidency, is a cross-cutting theme of the conference that called 1200 stakeholders last year.
This year, forty workshops have been organised, which will use the singular facilities of Laboral, City of Culture, as well as other places in Gijon. Laboral will offer the conference a singular and unique frame, with capacity to simultaneously manage 14 spaces demanded by the organisation.
The impressive La Laboral Theatre will hold the plenary sessions and the inauguration where His Royal Highness the Prince of Asturias will be present. + info
